On March 8, the residents of Barrington voted to enact a Community Bill of Rights Ordinance (CBR). The CBR protects the waterways of the Town, including rivers, streams, ponds, wetlands, watersheds and aquifers. The local law recognizes the right of local self-governance in Barrington and gives rights to ecosystems, but denies the rights of personhood to corporations.
